FAQ

You will find questions customers often ask about our services

The length of time it takes to resolve a matter before Ontario’s Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) or Small Claims Court can vary considerably depending on the type and complexity of the case, the availability of hearing dates, and whether the matter is contested. Some cases may be resolved relatively quickly through settlement, while others can take several months or longer to reach a hearing and final decision. Additional delays may occur if documents need to be served, evidence must be exchanged, a hearing is adjourned, or further steps are required after a decision. Because every case is different, there is no guaranteed timeline; however, proper preparation and compliance with procedural requirements can help avoid unnecessary delays.

We appreciate the opportunity to discuss your legal matter. Please note that our office charges a fee for one-hour consultations. During the consultation, we take the time to review the circumstances of your matter, discuss the applicable legal process, answer your questions, and provide practical guidance regarding your available options and potential next steps. The consultation fee reflects the professional time, knowledge, and experience devoted specifically to your situation. There is no obligation to retain our services following the consultation, and our goal is to ensure that you leave the meeting with a clearer understanding of your matter and how you may wish to proceed.
Our office generally provides legal services on a block-fee basis, allowing clients to understand the anticipated cost of specific stages or services in advance. As every legal matter is different, block fees are determined based on factors such as the jurisdiction in which the matter is proceeding, the nature and complexity of the issues involved, the amount of preparation required, and the scope of the services requested. Before proceeding, we will discuss the applicable block fee with you and clearly explain what services are included, so you can make an informed decision about how you wish to move forward.
Our firm provides professional paralegal representation in matters before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) and Ontario Small Claims Court. We represent both landlords and tenants in a wide range of residential tenancy disputes, including rent arrears, eviction applications, maintenance and repair issues, interference with reasonable enjoyment, tenant rights, landlord obligations, and other LTB matters. In Small Claims Court, we represent both plaintiffs and defendants in civil disputes, including unpaid debts, breach of contract, property damage, and other claims within the Court’s jurisdiction. Whether you are bringing a claim or application, responding to one, or need advice about your legal options, we can assist you in understanding the process and protecting your interests.
